Here’s what to know. This guide explains the type of work and why it can be needed. It is not a remote diagnosis or a do-it-yourself wiring tutorial.
What does this involve?
Approved de-icing cable power for roofs and gutters where suitable.
How does it work?
De-icing cable adds heat to selected roof or gutter areas to reduce ice buildup. It must be an approved product used as designed for the roof.
What affects the job?
Roof material, cable rating, weather controls, and safe power supply matter. It does not replace fixing ventilation or insulation problems.
What should you tell us?
The equipment model, where it is outdoors or near water, and any permit or site details you already have. Keep clear of damaged electrical equipment. You do not need to know the electrical terms. Tell us what you see and what you want to change.
Keep safety in mind
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s home electrical checklist explains common warning signs. For generator-related jobs, see the Electrical Safety Foundation International’s generator guidance. Any code or permit decision needs to be checked for the actual property.
Is this what you need help with?
Tell us a little about your project and where you're located. We'll confirm whether it's a job we can take on and explain the next step.
