Here’s what to know. This guide explains the type of work and why it can be needed. It is not a remote diagnosis or a do-it-yourself wiring tutorial.
What does this involve?
Mounting a safe countertop button that uses air pressure to trigger the disposal unit.
How does it work?
An air switch uses a puff of air through tubing to activate a disposal switch module. The control button itself does not carry the same electrical current as a wall switch.
What affects the job?
The disposal's power arrangement and available counter or sink holes affect compatibility. Plumbing and counter modifications may need another trade.
What should you tell us?
A picture of the existing outlet or switch, the room where it is located, and whether the problem is new or ongoing. You do not need to know the electrical terms. Tell us what you see and what you want to change.
Keep safety in mind
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s home electrical checklist explains common warning signs. For generator-related jobs, see the Electrical Safety Foundation International’s generator guidance. Any code or permit decision needs to be checked for the actual property.
Is this what you need help with?
Tell us a little about your project and where you're located. We'll confirm whether it's a job we can take on and explain the next step.
